When Google released information on its new
Android mobile-phone software development platform, it didn't seem like
big news to me. So they have their software in some phones, big deal. Well, maybe it is a big deal. After thinking about this for a little while, perhaps there is more to this than meets the eye or ear for that matter.
I know I find myself using the internet more and more from my BlackBerry. I check out scores of games, look at stock quotes, check email, look up store locations, etc... Everyone is moving to a more mobile platform to pick up information on the fly. This
is not new news, however the Apple Iphone has a cool way to view the
"actual internet" instead of the watered down version of sites we get
now. It is just a matter of time before a lot of
phones, hopefully BlackBerry, will have the internet sites the way they
should be viewed. I know I'd prefer to look at
sites the same way I view them from my PC and I would spend a lot more
time on the internet from my phone, if I could view sites this way. That way is coming to more phones in the not to distant future and that means more time on the internet.
Google
brings home boat loads of cash with its pay per click advertising and
Google's Android software platform will just bring that many more
eyeballs to their site. I think Google can hear the cash register ringing now with all of these new mobile viewers. I'm
guessing Google's stock still has a lot of room to run over the next 3
or 4 years and this new software will keep the revenue flowing.
Who
knows where this crazy market is headed but I don't think you can go
wrong with Google even at the high PE multiple it has now.
